Safety & Design Features of The Best Baby Costumes
When first designing our Lil’ Creatures baby onesies comfort, safety and cuteness were at the forefront of my mind – in fact not being able to find a comfortable and cotton rich baby costume is where Lil’ Creatures all began (but that’s another story).
So many infant costumes on the market are made from suffocating, scratchy backed polyester and long furs that shed, with oversized features that restrict baby’s movement and can easily overwhelm them and cover their faces and mouths making breathing difficult and overheating easy.
Lil’ Creatures baby costumes are different from the rest, here are some of the features of our baby animal costumes that set us apart!
FOR COMFORT:
Our custom knitted Cotton-rich two-way stretch terry is a luxurious fabric with a light knit for breathability and the terry style looped nap for warmth and of course the cute furry texture that so suits our cute animal designs. It is unbelievably soft and stretchy (you’ll want a onesie in this yourself for the perfect lazy Sunday at home) to ensure your lil’ one has complete freedom of movement from snugly cuddles to crawling and learning to walk.
The baby hats are made from the same terry fabric and lined with a fine stretch Cotton-rich stretch jersey, this helps with the fit, staying on, and comfort – especially on those with little hair on top! Our contrast tummies and trims are make from a knit fabric called minky fleece, it has a short pile (fur) and is so soft you’ll notice everyone wants to pat it!
Our full snap through romper design makes dressing and change times a breeze – no squeezing baby’s head through a too snug head opening or having to fully undress just to change a nappy.
Our tails are only lightly stuffed to make our infant costumes as cute as can be while also comfortable for baby to sit or lay on, and ears and antlers are light and soft with no wires or plastic components that may poke, scratch or irritate baby – no one wants an irritated baby.
FOR SAFETY:
Our designs and fabrics have been independently tested in Australia to comply with the AS/ANZ Safety Standards with regards to the close fit and loose hanging (hence why our Fox Tail is attached to the back), fabric weight, fabric flammability and burn testing (tested LOW FIRE DANGER) and labeling requirements. These important standards have been set by the Australian Consumer Law to keep our babies and children safe from unnecessary risk.
Each baby onesie is quality approved and stud safety checked in-house at Lil’ Creatures HQ by our lovely QC team before being packaged.

FOR FIT & DESIGN:
Our baby and toddler costumes are designed to Australian kidswear standard sizing – we have had great feedback about our sizing and fit from many happy customers. We have added a light elastic to the back ankle and back waist, this helps keep with onesie fit well when it is a little roomier and yet not restrict them when they fill it out more as they grow so quickly! Our hats are made super stretchy to accommodate the amazing speed at which baby’s head grows in their first 2 years and lined to help them stay on snug and so soft comfy that baby will leave it in place – no itchy foreheads here!
FOR EASY CARE:
Our Lil’ Creatures are luxurious, yet easy care. They can be machine washed and hung out to dry or even tumble dried on a low setting. No ironing or dry-cleaning is required. Like most fabrics, dark colours (especially red) should be machine washed separately (or with like colours only) the first couple times.
